Interviews always have something more than articles: they portray the personality of an individual which can be more or less interesting. And I had the pleasure to chitchat with a very interesting and very beautiful artist. A sensational art-model, with a mischievous look and curvy little body. She is Riae Suicide. Enough said, enjoy the read! — Eva Di Tullio
Who is Riae Suicide and what was she doing before becoming an alt-model?
We can say that Riae Suicide is my alter-ego or the character that I’ve been playing since 2007, which is the first time I ever posed. Joking aside, I’m an alternative model and a suicide girl. Before starting my career as a model I pretty much did any kind of work, ranging from waitress to disco’s pr, from house cleaner to pet groomer, secretary for various tattoo shops etc… Let’s say that I never sat on my hands, having left home at the age of 16 I had to fend for myself to not ask anything to anyone.
When your vocation kicked off?
I never had a good relationship with my body, I’m pretty short and shapely and I have a visage which doesn’t fare well in terms of classic beauty standards (no fleshy lips, for example) therefore I never thought I could become a model. Let’s also say that a good amount of my exes always made it clear that I had to be grateful to them because of how kind they were to be together with an ugly one like me, thus smashing the already low self-esteem I had. That was all I had until I discovered the site suicidegirls.com and I realized that there could’ve been an alternative to the classic beauty canons I evidently didn’t belonged to. I made my first set when I lived in Berlin, a friend shot it for me and I became a Suicide Girl. It was my «baptism of lens» and I must admit that aside from the first ten minutes of panic and embarrassment all came out naturally even if it was an integral nudity/erotic set.
What ‘s your relationship with camera lens?
I like to be photographed, I like to play various roles and I just change completely when the posing starts. In «real» life I’m pretty shy and introverted but I think that very few that look at my photos can sense this. I love to look straight into the lens and try to seduce the camera (no, not, the photographer) like if it was just the two of us.
You are a very complex artist who range through many different styles. Which one do you feel more close to you?
My favourite genres are erotic nude and glamour, because I can «use» my body as I wish and I’m more free compared to beauty (which I despise) or to artistic nude for which I’m not physically fit. I also like fetish a lot, even if I’m not competent about it. Not being 100% part of such a world I’m always afraid to send the wrong message.
Your body is peculiarly adorned by beautiful tattoos and piercings. What’s the meaning of such symbols on your body?
I know this may feel as a disappointing answer but they have no meaning. I always loved tattoos and as soon as I was able to do it I started colouring my body, sometimes making mistakes due to poor knowledge of the world of tattoos and in some instances due to scarce funds. Luckily for me such «errors» were covered by more beautiful and well pondered tattoos. My piercings are becoming less and less over time. When I was «young and rebellious» the amount was higher, some of them were also pretty unaesthetic but over time I kept the ones that, in my own opinion, bring out more of my visage and other parts of my body that are more or less in sight.

What are you working on now?
Modeling always take out a huge chunk of my time, one of the reason being the fact that I often make myself the accessories and dresses for my sets so that they are unique (I’m a bit of a primadonna from the photographic point of view and I hate to have accessories similar to the ones of other models). Hence I’m working on some projects for my portfolio and in the near future I would like to start with my own lingerie collection.
