If there is deception, in this day and age, it is about the democratization of photography (meaning the fact that today everyone is able to shoot a photo because everyone has a smartphone) which inevitably leads to a deterioration in quality of the images that are around us.
«These parvenus», some people said, «these amateurs are ruining our field». Too much images and all alike. Not to mention the presumed detrimental effect attributable to social media, instagram «filters» and to the possibility to endlessly load images on facebook.
I believe that there are two worlds. One is the world of appearance, of gossip, the trivial world that repeat the same silly ideas all the time. It’s a world — for instance — where there is the constant presence of classifications about what makes us who we are. By way of example, a smartphone doesn’t make us photographers. But a Reflex does. And if it’s an Hasselblad it’s even better. This silly universe feeds on ego, envy and vainglory.
The other world is the one where it doesn’t matter about the quality of your equipment but what’s important is the vision you pursue and that you can realize with a shoebox and a lens or with a sophisticated optical bench.
The world is full of photographers and even more full of naked bodies but there are few visionaries. And there are even few visionaries who can say something new about the naked body. That’s why Fluffer is going to search for them. Because discovering them (and show them to you) it’s our real pleasure.
